My sincerest apologies to AI community!

Few days back I wrote an article on medium, “sensitive questions related to AI for Humanity”. I received a lot of heat due to this in my personal and professional life and this is my public apology for that article. I haven’t received any request to bring down the article but if I do I ll remove it.

I think certain recent events made me ask this questions and my lack of AI knowledge led to a negative portrayal of AI, which is not the case. One might also argue that that there was a bit of pandering involved with a sci-fi narrative in that article.

Few of those recent event in last weeks were.

  • Discussions on AI regulations.
  • I started using Chat GPT and was amazed with it’s capabilities.

I was also made aware of the working nature of AI systems like LLMs and GAI. It’s no magic and what we train is what we get.

Not only that, creating such negative narrative only brings heat to us programmers who create & train such systems.

One more very critical argument I received was, if AI is so smart that it can think for itself why can’t it solve even slightly complex (Level 4, 5) problems. Which is completely true. Maybe AI can get to that stage but it’s not there yet.

Ending Notes:

AI is a powerful tool for humanity capable of solving issues which best suits them. They are not a solution for all our problems.

AI is really good in areas where statistical and probability based problems come into picture with huge volume of data and combinations which cannot be written in normal programming languages.

I have a long way to go to learn AI and I ll start from today.
Please consider this as my formal apology and I look forward to learning from the AI community to help me grow.
